Not too long ago, duckdraw did a sketch of Oreo in a cool-lookin super suit that was pretty BA. Building on that, I did this sketch of Oreo’s field operations suit. Theatrical it may be, but it serves a very functional purpose. The entire suit is conductive and grounded, protecting her from electrocution and serving as a gigantic antenna. Her transmission range and sensitivity is almost tripled in the suit- but it also makes her that much more susceptible to blaring signals. Not seen on the back are a microprocessor and a pair of watch batteries allowing her to do quick computations on the fly and, if needed, run the battery to the gloves to deliver a little shock. Furthermore, the piping uses similar technology to her antenna and changes colors with her mood accordingly.

“Hey, uh, you didn’t happen to see a new mouse around here, did you? Thin, big glasses, antenna on her head. I just stepped away to get her a glass of water and-”

“Oh my god, you have no idea what is going on, do you? The tech mice are freaking out! The network lit up like a damn Christmas tree and top secret access alerts started going nuts. She got into everything!”

“What are you talking about? Isn’t all that stuff, like, secure or something?”

“Yeah, it is! But she tore through every security measure like it was tissue paper! Next thing we know, we start seeing packets bouncing off Proxy Servers left and right sending god knows what. She could have seen every secret we had and sent it anywhere she wanted!”

“Where is she? Where’s Oreo?”

“We did the only thing we COULD do! There’s a Faraday cage in the testing wing. We locked her up in there until we can figure out what in Pepper Jack is going on.”

“Well get her out! I just rescued her from her lab! Poor thing has to be scared to death-”

“Nuh-uh! This comes from the top. No way she’s getting out until we know what she sent and where. She could endanger the whole Jar! I’m sorry Ginger, but the Jar’s safety comes first. Until we know, she stays in the cage.”

And here we have Oreo making her final decision on which team she’ll join in the Super Lab Mice. Given she hates Biscotti, Quartermasters is out, she’s hardly suited for physical combat so combat is out, and HQ requires too much thought and initiative. That just leaves Espionage- which as it turns out, she has quite the talent for. Aside from being able to get just about anything she wants out of any electronic device, she can also disable security systems, trick surveillance systems and help other sneaky mice get just about anything they need. If Spritz can put up with her general apathy, laziness and resistance to authority, this might work out nicely. Spritz belongs to http://deecency.tumblr.com/

Oreo’s Origins 2:

“Jamie, what’s this on the fabricator?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Here on the fabricator. They look like a tiny pair of glasses.”

“That’s weird. Why would anyone use the fabricator to make glasses?”

“That’s just it, they aren’t normal glasses. There’s some serious tech in these things! Wireless comms, full 8x, stereoscopic display, integrated lithium batteries, components alone must have cost a fortune. But when I look through the requisition records, I can’t find any info on them.”

“Well, they can’t just show up out of nowhere. You need grade 18 authorization just to start the fabricator so somebody must have ordered it.”

“Hang on… there’s something weird on the fabricator display. I’ve never seen it show something like this.”

“What does it say?”

“Give to Oreo.”

“Number 6? Huh, this must have come from one of the docs then. Just put it in number 6′s cage before we get written up. We’ll find out who submitted it later.”

Oreo’s Origins 1:

“Sir, I had to ask you about something.”

“What is it?”

“It’s about the standing orders on number six.”

“Number six is Do Not Retrieve.”

“But sir-”

“That is an order! Number six’s powers are still unknown, assuming she has any powers at all. She’s far too young and her only observed activities are watching television and blinking a light wired to her head- which for all we know could be a tracking beacon. On top of all that, her cage is smack dab in the middle of the human commons area! It’s far too risky for a mouse that could just be a decoy.”

“What if Espionage-”

“Espionage is already aware of the situation. Until further notice, the order still stands. Number six is Do Not Retrieve. Do I make myself clear?”

“Yes sir…”
