Pardon, different anonymous, but no? I agree that avians aren't a type of scalie, but the science is that birds *are* reptiles, and a kind of dinosaur. Birds are taxonomically classified as theropods just like T. rex, and do belong to the taxonomic class Reptilia. Further, crocodiles are indeed genetically more similar to birds than they are to true lizards. As well, certain archeosaurids did indeed have full beaks, before modern birds ever did, such as most advanced Ornithomimids.

Ugh, one of THESE… yes, there is a classification system that could assert that birds are reptiles and dinosaurs. That exact same system asserts that birds are also fish and bacteria. The Phylogenetic classification system seems to exist only for genetic researchers and people who want to sound like smart-asses. It’s just silly and has little baring for people who aren’t genetistst. This blog observes the Linnaean Classification system which recognizes that evolution can result in a true change of kinds. Theropada is dead. It died along with the rest of the class Dinosauria. Birds belong to the class Aves. Deal with it. Because if you’re gonna bring that weak-ass Phylogenetic classification shit in here then I’m a goddamn dinosaur, all mammals are scalies and everyone’s a fish.

(As for the croc stuff, I actually don’t know enough about that to argue it so I’ll just let that go.)
