Ok are you a fan of Dead Pool? If you are do you think it's unfair we have to wait a WHOLE year for the Dead Pool movie to come out or do you think it's gonna be worth it?

You asked this exact question, word for word, to latenightgrindblog. But whatever, I’ll bite.

I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of Deadpool but I’ve read up on him and his story and I like the concept. I’ve also read through a couple comics and I liked what I read. That said, I’m glad they waited this long to do a Deadpool movie. The tide is right for them to do Deadpool proper and the test footage set the perfect tone for the character, as overwhelmingly positive fan reactions have shown. If they keep the spirit, the violence and the light-hearted fun, it will be incredible.

Do I have any hope for it being good? Not in the slightest. Fox has a pretty shitty batting average for Super Hero movies. Often times, the more anticipation for a movie there is, the worse it becomes as producers feel the need to meddle and ultimately ruin any vision the directors and writers had (Spiderman 3, I’m looking at you). Frankly, if people weren’t so enamored with the CHARACTER Wolverine, most of them could have seen how shitty a lot of his movies are (Origins, how could you have possibly done Weapon X any worse? Did you even FLIP THROUGH the comic!?) But they have an opportunity here. If they ride on the coat tails of Guardians of the Galaxy and other Marvel successes that show that Super Hero movies can be just as smart, fun and funny as any other movie, this could be a successful franchise that they will run into the ground by the third sequel at the latest.
