There’s a reason Intelligence and Wisdom are different stats in D&D.

It’s certainly a pity about Rainfurrest. From all I’ve read and heard about it, there was just a lot going wrong. It was an unfortunate case where some of the worst parts of the fandom bubbled up and in the name of tolerance, it wasn’t quelled immediately. Look, I get that a lot of people see the furry fandom as a place where they are free to express themselves. You can let your freak flag fly on all the sites and message boards you want. But in a public space, a convention filled with people who aren’t into the same things as you, and even people who aren’t a part of the convention, it’s blindingly apparent what is and isn’t appropriate.

There’s a word for what those people do. It’s immaturity. Which is ironic considering the very ‘mature’ nature of their behavior. But there’s nothing mature about disregarding everyone else around you. No maturity in indulging yourself while others around you suffer. Things like crinkling, collars and leashes, straight up lingerie or fetish gear, you leave that shit in the fucking bedroom. If you walk around in public like that, in a venue that isn’t specifically a fetishist ball, you’re acting like a god damn child.

But you know what else? It NEVER should have gone as far as it did. Why these people didn’t get shut down within the first hour is a huge oversight. Security should have been pouncing on this crap as soon as it started. I couldn’t say if it was due to a lax security policy or just an overall lack of security but something there was very wrong. Your security is there to STOP these small groups from ruining everything and without them, you see this kind of thing happen. I hope it’s a lesson to every other Fur Con because I’m sure these people aren’t just at this one con. They will go to other cons and if they aren’t told what they’re doing is grossly inappropriate, it will happen again.

I’ve thought about how I’d feel about it and landed on the conclusion that I’d rather not. Like most of my characters, they would probably end up being sexualized and I really don’t want to think of my ferrets that way. Same goes for my corgi. I’m fine if other artists do it but personally, I’d feel a bit weird drawing naughty art of pets that I own.
