My computer is dead. I did a major overhaul on my system; motherboard, processor, memory, hard drive, the works. I get it all together, go to power it on and it immediately shuts off. I check the POST code and lo and behold, defective CPU. I COULD put the old parts back in but it would be a complete teardown and rebuild to put it back again and there’s no guarantee it would work right because I don’t remember the ports and slots I used in the original configuration. I don’t want to risk damaging anything in the process either.

I’m computerless and it’s really messing with me…

Will we ever see the Podlings again? Surely one of them has managed to sneak into Linda's belongings.

“Sneak” would be the wrong word for it. I think “Smuggled” would be a little more accurate.

It is me or Fantastic Mr. Fox does not have the recognition it deserve in the stop-motion genre? Maybe Chicken Run and Wallace&Gromit franchise overshadowed it's notoriety a little. Also it kinda looked like a live-action of Inerith The Heart adventure game in a future alternative universe.

Ultimately I think that Fantastic Mr. Fox’s greatest strength is also its greatest weakness: Wes Anderson. I remember seeing the build up to Fantastic Mr Fox and being rather excited for the film. It was marketed as a big, fun romp about a whimsical, silly family pulling a heist. It sounds great on paper. But then you walk into the theater and it’s a slow, subtle film. Every moment of whimsy is counter-balanced by a dozen harsh, somber moments of bitter reality. Not to mention all the celebrities featured so prominently in trailers and promotional material are often little more than brief cameos. In a lot of ways, it’s less a statement about the film and more a problem with people not knowing how to promote a Wes Anderson movie. I had the exact same experience going into The Grand Budapest Hotel. Advertised as a big, funny romp with loads of celebrities, was actually a slow, subtle film with brief cameos. While neither were bad movies, it feels like a total bait-and-switch.

Strictly from an animation standpoint though, it was quite well done. Certainly oozing with Wes’s signature style and has plenty of cool cinematography but I wouldn’t really say it was revolutionary. Not recognized for its merit but also not severely underrated either. On the other hand, Tim Burton’s work after Nightmare (Which was a visual triumph but narratively quite lacking) is severely overrated while Laika’s Paranorman is perhaps the most underappreciated achievement in stop-motion history, made all the more insulting because it was overshadowed by the forgettable Frankenweenie which came out at the same time.

Scammer Targeting Tumblr Artists

The title says it all really. So if nothing else, please share and reblog this post to raise awareness for those that might be caught out - both artists and followers.
For a TL:DR, please look at the bottom of the post

What is happening?

Right now, there is at least one person actively impersonating multiple artists across tumblr in an effort to scam their followers into paying for fake ‘cheap commissions’. The scammer will clone a tumblr, usually using a slight change to the url/account name to look like the real deal. They will then message people directly through Tumblr with messages along the lines of “Hey, i’m doing cheap commissions right now. DM me to get one”. Naturally, this is ends up just being a way to take their money without giving anything back in return.

Who does this affect?

Everyone. Simple as that. As long as the scammer in question works unopposed, they are free to spread their influence and continue to scam more people. Even if you haven’t been targeted yet, it does not mean you are safe or immune.

Several artists have already fallen victim to this scammer, and I encourage any artists that have to reblog this post with the details of their affected account(s) and the ones the scammer has set up.

How can we stop this?

Tumblr, like many other social media platforms, seems to care very little about ‘minor’ occurences like this one, and despite reaching out directly to them over a week ago through multiple avenues of contact - they have refused to comment on the situation, provide a recommended response for users, or take action on behalf of those already affected.
Despite this, there are still tools at our disposal that we can use to make this scam more difficult, and to increase its visibility to those within Tumblr staff that are required by policy to take action.

Tumblr has the following to say on the topic of impersonation: Confusion or Impersonation. Don’t do things that would cause confusion between you or your blog and a person or company, like registering a deliberately confusing URL. Don’t impersonate anyone. While you’re free to ridicule, parody, or marvel at the alien beauty of Benedict Cumberbatch, you can’t pretend to actually be Benedict Cumberbatch. They then provide a link to this online form that you can fill out if you suspect someone’s identity is being confused. Unfortunately, this can only be filled out if you are the victim of impersonation. In other words, only the artists can fill this out legitimately.

So, what about the followers and users of tumblr whom aren’t being impersonated?
Our most valuable tool in this online platform is the platform itself. It enables us to spread our word near-virally across all the many sub-communities on Tumblr with remarkable efficiency for a user-driven system. We can take advantage of that effect to increase awareness of the situation. Even if you - the one reading this right now - aren’t an artist or don’t know an artist, the act of reblogging this post or sharing it directly with friends improves it’s 'ranking’ in popularity increasing its chances to be seen by more people.

We don’t need everyone on Tumblr to see the post for it to be effective, just like we don’t need the entirety of the human population of the world to be immune to a disease for that disease to be rendered ineffective or eradicated. If enough people are aware, the likelihood of pulling off a successful scam increases dramatically reducing efficiency to a point that it no longer becomes profitable to continue.

Why should I care?

It disheartens me to say this, but of the many artists I contacted directly over the past week to warn about this issue many of them refused to listen or dodged the responsibility with lines like;
“I’m not being impersonated, so it doesn’t affect me”
“I’m just one person. I can’t make an impact”
“I need to take care of my community. Other people can look after theirs”
This is honestly disappointing that so many artists or art-rebloggers care so little as to intentionally wave the responsibility of keeping their followers and fellow artists safe from this, that they cannot spare 10 seconds of their time to share an informative post.
I’m not here to bash artists, but it is time that everyone takes responsibility for their own communities, and of those around them.

Artists: You have a responsibility to ensure that your followers and fans aren’t being abused by someone who may impersonate you. If they succeed, your reputation will be damaged, and your followers will resent you. Your followers are also almost guaranteed to be following other artists meaning your efforts can spread beyond your own circle of influence, so don’t be naive when you think you have little effect.
Followers: You have just as much responsibility to be aware of those that might try to scam you or your fellow followers. Don’t just sit in silence when you see something wrong: Ignoring the issue only makes it more resilient to our efforts to stop it. You are the vocal majority if you just use your voices to be heard!

TL:DR

A scammer is impersonating artists and scamming money from their followers under the guise of 'cheap commissions’. If we ignore the issue, it will get worse.
Every single person that reads this can afford to spend just 10 seconds to reblog and share this post. Those 10 seconds can save others from being scammed for hundreds of dollars.
Reblog & Share

Heads up.
I don’t use DMing as my main method of contact about commissions
and I don’t message people directly through tumblr offering commission work.

Also, most artists I know don’t reach out to people specifically like a door to door salesman. If you see ANYONE doing something like this it’s more than likely a scammer using a false identity.

Be wary.

You’ll never see me reaching out to you directly via DM soliciting a commission. Whenever I do open for commissions, I’ll make a post about it so if you’re following me, you’ll see it in your Dash, not DMs. I also usually mirror the same post on FA/InkBunny/dA so you can verify if you’re cautious.

Ever tried to write a custom story for Paraphore? One that involves your characters maybe? There are so many possibilities since the mod support.
Anonymous

True story, I had no idea what Paraphore was until I googled it, only to realize that I actually played it for a couple hours last Saturday when I found a version on e621. I didn’t know it had mod support. I like the concept, I just wished there were more game elements to it.

I’ve been toying around with a game idea of my own for a while. Naturally, I want to finish Gym Jane first but after that, I was thinking of starting a new game that played like a mix between Corruption of Champions and Monster Girl Quest 3. You know, explore different areas of the world, write up a bunch of scenarios, some combat, some quests, some kinks. In my time making games, I’ve found that I like coding and flow charts and writing and still images but I hate animating so I decided to take out the animations and add more writing and game elements. Of course, this is all just speculation right now. Can’t get ahead of myself. I gotta finish Gym Jane first.

  • yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach
  • green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal
  • blue- shade with purple
  • purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)
  • pink- darker shade of red
  • white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??

image

This is lovely and helpful but WHY IN THE DEVILS NAME IS LENNY HIDING IN THE WHITE BALL

*Race of creature reaches full maturity at 2 yrs and rarely lives to see 20*

“This character is six years old and-”

“AAAAH! Under age! No porn allowed!”

*Race of creature is basically an infant until 50*

“This child is 35.”

“That’s fine. Smut away!”

Does Sandy have a British accent (kinda like Octavia)? Or is she just very proper in her speak?
image

Interesting you should ask! Sandy’s accent has always been a bit of a special trait of hers because it doesn’t match any one region. Sandy started traveling at the age of 10 and over the years, her casual accent and mannerisms became a hodge-podge of the many places she’d been. It would take a truly skilled linguist to be able to determine the true root of her accent. To make matters more complicated, she tends to slip in an out of different accents subconsciously. Usually it’s to match the ponies around her but it also has emotional triggers as well. Anger tends to bring up a course, Manehattan accent, excitement can bring up her Appleloosan, and being informative often summons her Academic Canterlot. The ‘proper’ style of speaking tends to come up when she’s being analytical and it’s less an indication of her accent and more a glimpse into her thought process.
